Invisible reflector lassoes rain;                                               
It glistens in the light, then disappears.
Soft, shifting rays mask then unmask again
The fishing line collecting nature’s tears.
Blazing, unscathed, hang scarlet handkerchiefs,                                   
Each burning in the late October day.
Just overnight a hundred tiny gifts
Appear in place of summer’s green array.
Precisely tossed across unfathomed night,                     
Snagged in the satin sky, hang jewels galore—                  
Each one its own extraordinary sight,       
Yet each a neighbor to a million more.                        
 
I dare you to defy web, leaves, and space
And see not each reflection of God’s face.
